To think about...
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)

Becoming a Christian

At Kingswood Congregational Church we have as our motto, 'Love God, Love Life.' We think it shows the proper priority for the way we ought to live, God first.

Many people, though, prefer to ignore the first half of our motto in favour of the second half. Perhaps you are one of them? You aren't particularly bothered about God but you do want to love life. You want to get as much pleasure out of it as you can and do everything possible to achieve that. After all, isn't there a proverb that says, 'Be happy while you're living, for you're a long time dead'?

However, no matter what efforts you make to try and be happy, you never quite manage it. Always you are aware of particular feelings:

The feeling of yearning to get something more or be something more, even though you achieved last week's 'goal' only yesterday.
The feeling of fear that keeps you awake in the night thinking of issues that seem to increase rather than decrease.
The feeling of loneliness because of your belief that nobody cares for, or wants to understand, what you face or, indeed, even you.
The feeling of uncertainty because of the hectic pace of life stopping you taking time to determine where you are, what you are and who you are.
The feeling of desperation that life is passing and your plans and dreams, and maybe even your family, are slipping away.
The feeling of hopelessness that makes you think there must be more to life than this.

The Good News we have at Kingswood Congregational is that there is more to life and, whatever feelings you have, there is help, hope and love for you. To begin your journey of discovery, please click HERE.
